Cabinets built for NAMM 2003– New 12/06/02
Here are the photos of the 2 walnut cabinets that will be featured at NAMM in January.
This is the same design I am contemplating for Stooge cabinet kits. The joint method
would be different. This is a very strong spline connection in a rabbit joint (wood speak
I really do not understand). The cabinet kits will need to feature something easier for
self assembly. These cabinet shows a separate power supply. But, the standard
MOTM supply could have been used. The panel on the back is a standard MOTM-900
front panel. These cabinets are set up for modules on the back (for power supplies) on
the left side (looking from front) only. The kits would be set up for either side. With the
new 500 and 600 series stuff, you might want two power supplies in the same cabinet if
you don’t wire your own as I have. FYI, the top cabinet here is shown wired for the new
990 power PCB that will have 5 volts for 500 and 600 series modules.
These cabinets corners are as strong as they get. Each corner has about 10 of these reinforcements. Kits would need to be different for assembly.
And, here is the right side view of the upper cabinet.
I hope you enjoyed these photos. I am looking forward to seeing them again at NAMM 2003 full of Robert Rich’s modules.
